The ESF invites
proposals across all scientific domains under the 2011 Call for Exploratory
Workshops.
The focus of the
scheme is to foster meetings that aim to open up new directions in research or
to explore emerging research fields with potential impact on new developments
in science. Proposals should also demonstrate the potential for initiating
follow-up actions. Proposals will be evaluated on the potential to create
breakthroughs and form the basis for new areas of research and/or innovative
applications, or the changing of paradigms.
Proposals may be submitted in any or across several of the following broad scientific fields: Biomedical Sciences; Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences Physical and Engineering Science; Social ScienceHumanities; Science driven input to research policy issues such as Research Infrastructures in any of the above fields .
ESF
Exploratory Workshops generally last for 1-3 days and include 15
min. and 30
max. (including speakers and convenors) participants. The award will
be up to a maximum value of 15 000 €.
The 2011 Call for
Proposals is for workshops to be held between 1 February and 31 December
2012. The deadline for submitting proposals is 26 May 2011, 16:00 CET.
The ESF anticipates to be able to fund approximately 50 workshops from this
Call.
